Leon Fanourakis & Taka Perry create a masterclass in collab on ‘BELIEVE’
Indonesia’s RAMENGVRL, Korea’s sokodomo & Australia’s YNG Martyr join in on the fun
Getting five different artists to collab from five different time zones from five different places on the planet is a challenging task, but this is what Taka Perry excels at. The producer, who was last seen sampling Tokyo’s rail system with Leon on ‘EXPRESS,’ is back with a pan-Asian combo for the ages as Indonesia’s RAMENGVRL, Korea’s sokodomo, and Australia’s YNG Martyr come along for the ride on ‘BELIEVE.’
The video for ‘BELIEVE’ is a tongue-in-cheek look at what Taka has to do to get the MC’s verses for the song and video finished. Taka Googles “cool Tokyo rapper” and his partner-in-collab, Leon, gets the go-ahead to start the song. With a deep, brooding voice and double-time flow, Leon sets the bar high with the first verse. Up next is RAMENGVRL, beamed in by a couple of creative security footage cameras. As she always does, RAMEN lets it be known that the world is hers.
In a nod to the producers out there, Taka has to restart his computer and even has Ableton Live freeze on him a bit. Eventually, he gets sokodomo over a video chat and YNG Martyr comes into the studio to drop his big.
‘BELIEVE’ is a humorous and inventive way to show the madness that producers go through to get rappers from around the world on their tracks. LiFTED can’t wait to see what’s next.
