Bassagong’s LIFE LOVER is an eclectic joyride on a Hip Hop rollercoaster

It’s the Korean rapper’s 7th studio album

Though he's long been known as a late-blooming Rap obsessive who worked delivery jobs before joining Legit Goons, Bassagong isn’t one to chase trends. On his latest album, LIFE LOVER, the Korean MC is forging a path entirely his own.

On his seventh studio album, Bassagong throws open the floodgates to everything he loves about Hip Hop and then some. The album is a genre-spanning rollercoaster, unafraid to weave through decades or even step outside the bounds of Hip Hop altogether. However, one thing is constant throughout – Bassagong’s fierce, uncompromising flow.

Across the tracklist, LIFE LOVER plays like a love letter to the genre’s many lives. ‘Done It All’ thumps with Trap intensity, while ‘You Want Me’ throws it back to 1990s East Coast Boom Bap, dusty samples and all. ‘Dying Alone 2025’ swerves to the West Coast, laced with breezy G-funk synths. It’s an eclectic mix, but nothing ever feels forced. Each style is fully realized and given room to breathe.

Moving into electronic territory, ‘Stretch’ pulses with four-on-the-floor dancefloor energy, while ‘Our Happy Time’ dives headfirst into jittery breakbeats. And yet, Bassagong never loses control. His delivery is razor-sharp, anchoring the record with a relentless cadence and lyricism that never panders.
