In Hip Hop music, a theme on rappers’ minds consistently is wealth. In 2003, 50 Cent came on the scene with his stellar debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin. With a co-sign from Dr. Dre and Eminem, 50 had the streets in a stranglehold with bangers like ‘In Da Club,’ ‘Many Men,’ and ‘21 Questions.’ In 2007, he made a song titled ‘I Get Money’ and in 2009, the song ‘Baby By Me’ had the chorus that stated, “Have a baby by me, baby/Be a millionaire.”

Needless to say, 50 Cent has always cared about wealth accumulation. Two rappers from Taiwan, Asiaboy 禁藥王 & Lizi 栗子, are also about the almighty dollar. In their latest video, ‘要錢不要命’ which has the English title of Get Rich or Die Tryin,’ the MCs get busy in black and white. Asiaboy 禁藥王 is first up and he quickly pontificates about how much better life is when he has money. Lizi 栗子 is second on the rhyme and he’s got a curly fro instead of his usual braids as well as a busted hand in the video. His vocal tone is a good match because it’s totally different than Asiaboy 禁藥王’s.

While some people may rhyme about the struggle or their troubles in relationships, money is a thing that people will want for the rest of their lives.
