A&Rs for record labels shift through hundreds of songs per week looking for tracks for their artists to jump on. They look at artists’ Spotify or YouTube numbers, check out their social media accounts, and then listen to some tracks and see if any songs blowing up that are up to their superstars’ standards.

‘NERA’ by ARJN and KDS is a certified Malayalam summer banger. While the “statistics” of the artists aren’t mind-blowing, sometimes that doesn’t matter when the beat by RONN slaps you in your face and then grabs your hair and slaps you again. The drum programming instantly stands out as something any MC would want to rhyme on, especially as the weather gets warmer and warmer.

Put out by Moneyverse Records and distributed by Def Jam India, ‘NERA’ has a video that matches the energy of the song. Rapping next to a Rolls Royce in front of a mansion is where it’s at. KDS is up first flexing in a black tank top and on his lyrics. ARJN gets even flashier in a suit at a press conference while reporters surround him.

‘NERA’ is something special and it sounds like something a big name could get on and blow it into the stratosphere. Burna Boy? Jay Park? Justin Beiber? We’re sure those DMs are open.
