A decade ago, Anderson .Paak released the album Malibu, and he started to get thought of as the next-big-thing. In that 10 years, .Paak has delivered because the half Korean rapper has won 9 Grammys, done music and the Super Bowl with Dr. Dre, been in a Funk & R&B revival with Bruno Mars, and now he even DJs vinyl under the moniker DJ Pee .Wee.
But that’s not even close to all.
Last week, he released his directorial debut K-POPS! on Netflix, which is the story of a washed-up R&B singer who found out he has a kid [.Paak’s own son] with a Korean woman, and that kid is trying out to be in a K-pop group. While the movie is a family-friendly comedy, the soundtrack to K-POPS! is a 17-track burner with big names in the Hip Hop and K-pop industry contributing.
Anderson .Paak features on nearly every track, but he’s also got Jay Park, LNGSHOT, Dean, JID, G-Dragon, and more on there. With creativity oozing out of everything he does, the next 10 years looks to be even more incredible as he bridges Hip Hop and K-pop in the right ways.
