ABANGSAPAU shows off his multifaceted artistry with ‘wow.’ & ‘but hey’

The Singaporean MC is definitely outside

ABANGSAPAU is out here making waves in the summer of 2025 as he gets ready to drop his self-titled album soon. It started with a quick hitter with ‘ONE MINUTE,’ released in the early part of July. Now, in the last two weeks, he’s put out ‘wow.’, a lyrical showcase, and ‘but hey,’ a folksy love letter to growing up in Singapore.

The ‘wow.’ video is like a one-room musical. ABANGSAPAU gets in an elevator filled with a cast of characters and gets to work. He’s rapping like someone owes him money, or that he really wants to show others what’s been missing in Singaporean Hip Hop. The people in the video are weird, crazy, and fun all at the same time.

In ‘but hey,’ ABANGSAPAU takes the opposite route. Instead of rapping, he’s singing about the silent weight of growing up, and a growing numbness to the pain of loss and change. In a line that sums up the whole song, he sings, ‘To grow is to grieve.’

These tracks show that genres are nothing for ABANGSAPAU, as he can shift and morph with the best of them. The three tracks have whetted the whistle for his self-titled album, which will be dropping soon.
