Iranian rapper Tataloo sentenced to death
The 37-year-old rapper has been in an Iranian jail since 2023
Amir Hossein Maghsoudloo, the heavily tattooed Iranian rapper, has been sentenced to death for insulting the Prophet Muhammed. The highly popular rapper was initially sentenced to five years in jail, but prosecutors in Tehran rejected the verdict, and now he is set to be executed.
With a full face and body filled with tattoos, Tataloo has been involved in the music industry in Iran since 2011 when he released an underground Hip Hop album. Since then, he’s put out 21 albums and become a full-fledged Pop star. In 2016 and 2018, he was arrested in Iran and served time in prison. He moved to Turkey in 2018 and did many things he wasn’t allowed to do in Iran like have massive concerts.
After having visa issues in Turkey, the authorities there handed him over to the Iranian government in 2023, where he was put in jail for encouraging young people to do psychoactive drugs, spreading corruption, and ultimately blasphemy, the charge for which he has been sentenced to death for. Iranian courts are notoriously secretive, but under Iranian law, he should have the right to appeal the ruling.
