Sho channels Tupac’s style, mannerisms & dances in ‘SHO PAC’

There is a fine line between inspiration & imitation

They say art imitates life, but also life imitates art. Japanese rapper Sho has just released a song called ‘SHO PAC,’ and it’s hard to tell which is which.

The video features Sho doing his best at channeling the late rapper. He’s got the backwards bandana, one-sole Timberlands, a leather vest, and a gold-wrapped Mercedes Benz. But that’s not all. He crip walks across Shibuya Crossing while throwing up gang signs. And that’s not all. He also uses Tupac’s vocal inflections while rhyming over a G-Funk beat.

In the YouTube comments, there are a lot of haters as some people invited him to Los Angeles to dance, while others warn him not to do that because he would get stomped out. For his take, Sho wrote, “My new track ‘SHO PAC’ was made as a tribute, not to mock, but to honor the culture that inspired me. I got nothing but love and respect for Hip Hop and the OGs who built this movement. From Japan to the world. One love.”

There is a fine line between inspiration and imitation, and ‘SHO PAC’ is on it.
