Studio Ghibli’s soundtracks released on colored vinyl records
Have you ever heard the Spirited Away soundtrack…on vinyl?
Vinyl records keep making their way into every aspect of life. A case in point is the latest release by Studio Ghibli, where they are putting out all of their soundtracks on vinyl. There is a big intersection between lovers of everything Hayao Miyazaki does and vinyl collecting, so Studio Ghibli made them available.
The 12 soundtracks composed by Joe Hisashi are Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Grave of the Fireflies, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo on the Cliff, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, and The Wind Rises. Each record is a different color and comes with new art on the cover.
Each soundtrack sells for nearly US$70 on Amazon, so they are a bit pricey, but sometimes great things have a big price tag. The orders ship in mid-June, so vinyl collectors wouldn’t have to wait very long to hear their favorite soundtrack.
For vinyl aficionados and Studio Ghibli lovers, this is a dream come true.
