Dwagie performs in The Bay at the Oakland Athletic’s National Taiwan Day
Thousands of overseas Taiwanese came out to see the rapper and Nvidia’s Jansen Huang
California has one of the biggest Asian populations in America, so it was only right that the Oakland Athletics baseball team had a National Taiwan Day on May 25. Taiwanese rapper Dwagie performed during the game and CEO of Nvidia, Jansen Huang, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Dwagie is an OG MC who raps mostly in Taiwanese and was a judge on MTV’s The Rappers show. He went to the stadium area that was reserved for the Taiwanese who bought tickets for the special day and kicked his rhymes. Jansen Huang also went into that area and signed autographs and took selfies with fans. Both took a picture together in personalized jerseys from the Oakland Athletics.
Since Taiwan is a smaller country and doesn’t make the news that often, this is a great example of soft power doing its thing.
