Saweetie to play in the Philippines for the first time at FIBA Basketball World Cup Draw
The ‘Best Friend’ rapper is one-quarter Filipina
In Saweetie’s smash hit ‘Closer,’ with H.E.R., the ‘Best Friend’ rapper goes on three dates with various guys around the world. In one sequence, she’s in a tropical paradise in the Philippines when things get hot and steamy.
The reality is that Saweetie is one-quarter Filipina, but she’s never performed in the Philippines. That changes this weekend as she headlines a concert in Manila for the FIBA Basketball World Cup Draw.
Surrounded by former NBA players like Pau Gasol and Carmelo Anthony, the FIBA Basketball World Cup Draw will decide who is playing who for all 32 teams. The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will be held in three Asian countries - Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines - for the first time from August 25 to September 10. This is the second time in a row it will be in Asia, as it was held in China in 2019.
On April 29, the draw will happen at Araneta Coliseum, followed by a concert with Saweetie, as well as Filipino favorites Sarah Geronimo, Billy Crawford, and more.
