The Red Bull BC One world breakdancing championships got off to an enthusiastic start this past weekend as cyphers in Taiwan, Russia, and South Africa were held. In Taiwan, Bboy Quake took the title for the males and Bgirl Yahan won for the female division. They both punched their tickets to the 18th edition of the Red Bull BC One World Finals in Gdańsk, Poland on November 5 and 6 where they will be competing against the world’s best dancers.

At the Russian Red Bull BC One cypher, Bboy Ralfinio won and is on to Poland. In the South African cypher, Bgirl Courtnaé and four-time champion Bboy Benny won. All of these contestants have a few months to get ready for the finals.

Thirty-plus countries have national cyphers, but anyone around the world can enter the E-Battle. Entries for this start April 29 and end May 14. In the E-battle, dancers must submit a dance video to be judged by B-Boy Kleju from Poland, France’s B-Girl Sarah Bee, and three-time Red Bull BC One world champion, B-Boy Menno from the Netherlands. If contestants are selected, they travel to Poland on June 26 to take part in the Red Bull BC One Last Chance Cypher. Two winners from there join the other champions in the Red Bull BC One World Finals in November.
