RAMENGVRL wins Best Solo Rap Artist at 2023 AMI Awards
“We came in here just to see & ended up winning”
The 2023 AMI Awards were held on November 8 in Jakarta, and were a celebration of musical diversity and innovation. There were 62 awards given out over Pop, Rock, R&B, Hip Hop, and more, as well as five special achievement awards. Indonesian superstar RAMENGVRL won Best Solo Rap Artist for her song ‘Fashion’ and was very surprised by the victory. She posted on her social media, “We came in here just to see and ended up winning.”
The reason for the surprise was simply that ‘Fashion’ doesn’t have a normal Hip Hop beat. Instead, it’s a House-infused track that gets fresher with each listen. This wasn’t RAMENGVRL’s first time winning some AMI Awards as she won two awards in 2021.
In other Hip Hop news from the 2023 AMI Awards, PUNOKAWAN won Best Group Rap for their song ‘INDO’ featuring MANUTIZED.
