Pusha T fries McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish

First Drake, now Ronald. Is anyone safe from the Virginia MC’s wrath?

2018 seems like it was a really long time ago even though only four years have gone by. On May 25 of that year, Pusha T, one half of the Virgina duo Clipse, released his album Daytona. On it, there were a few shots at the biggest artist in the world at the time, Drake, on ‘Infrared.’ A few hours after it’s release, Drake came back with ‘Duppy Freestyle,’ with his own disses.

Four days later, Pusha T released ‘The Story of Adidon’ and it will go down as one of the most ruthless diss tracks ever recorded for a few reasons. Firstly, he broke the news that Drake had a kid with an adult movie star, and Drake was a deadbeat dad. Also, Pusha T went really hard on Drake’s producer, 40, who has multiple sclerosis, asking how much longer he had to live. The song was released with Drake in blackface on the cover, which added insult to injury.

How did Drake respond to getting verbally assaulted? He said that was it, he wouldn’t be releasing any more tracks, and basically coinciding that Pusha T won. To be fair, Drake released his double album Scorpion a month later and still broke all the streaming records of all-time.

It’s four years later. Pusha T is looking into the future instead of the past. Now, he has a new album that is about to be released and this time he’s going after a different clown - Ronald McDonald - in an Arby’s ad. The funny thing is that Pusha T actually has legitimate beef with the fast-food giant.

Nearly 20 years ago, Pusha T teamed up with Justin Timberlake and wrote the ‘I’m Lovin It’ jingle for McDonald’s. He got paid US$500,000, while JT got US$6 million [and sponsorship of a tour]. While half a mil sounds good back then, the fact that he got no publishing on the track that they’ve been using for nearly two decades really made Pusha T upset. So mad in fact that he released ‘Spicy Fish Diss Track’ with Arby’s accusing McDonald’s fish sandwich of being very wack. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Pusha T said, “I’m the first-ever fish sandwich diss ever, and I should go down in history for that.”
