Namewee acquitted of drug possession

Prosecutors cited lack of evidence & negative drug tests

Malaysian rapper Namewee finally got some good news recently. He was acquitted of drug possession charges by the Magistrate’s Court. The prosecution rejected his first bid to drop the charges of possessing methamphetamines and sildenafil, a drug treating erectile dysfunction in April. On his second bid, he was acquitted of drug possession.

On October 22 of 2025, Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, known as the Nurse Goddess, was found dead in a hotel bathtub after working with Namewee on a project. Even though he called an ambulance, there was a cloud of suspicion over the rapper. Soon, Hsieh’s death was reclassified from accidental death to murder and Namewee had to turn himself in. He was held for a few days and afterwards couldn’t talk about the case.

Earlier in May, Namewee suffered a leg injury and went to court in a wheelchair. Prosecutors cited a lack of progress in the case as well as Namewee’s negative drug test and decided to discontinue the case.

While people still want to know what happened in that hotel room that night, Namewee has been producing videos and promises he will explain everything once the time is right.
