Jay Chou had the best-selling album in the world in 2022
Greatest Work of Art was number one on the Global Album Sales Chart
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry [IFPF] announced on March 28 that Jay Chou’s Greatest Work of Art was the highest-selling album in the world in 2022. In doing so, Jay’s 15th album is the first Mandopop work to break into the top 10 as well as become number one. Hot on Chou’s heels were BTS’ smash album Proof, and Taylor Swift’s Midnights. Othe K-pop groups took slots four through 10.
On JVR Music’s Instagram, Jay wrote, “This is a historical moment for Mandopop. This is beyond my imagination. Thank you all. This proves that music may come in different languages, but art transcends language.”
With six years between albums, Jay proved that he was still a powerful force in Pop music worldwide. Jay has a career that has spanned two decades and keeps getting stronger each time he releases new music.
