Jackson Wang rails against media portrayal of China at London concert
“I’m Jackson Wang from China. This is my home country.”
On January 14, Jackson Wang performed at his London stop of the Magic Man world tour. Unlike the other dates, where Jackson was apolitical with his on-stage banter, on this night, he railed against the press in a profanity-laced speech about China.
With a sheer shirt, a ton of eye makeup, and a bottle of whisky in hand, he started by saying, ‘I’m Jackson Wang from China. This is my home country.” He continued, “Listen, listen. There’s so much f*cking media talking about bullsh*t…If you travel to China just one time, you’ll feel like damn, this is a dope place.”
He finished by saying, “That’s why you guys gotta be careful about media stuff…We’re living on Earth. Everywhere we are welcome.”
Fans in China were obviously delighted at the superstar’s message, especially saying it in a foreign country. This is not the first time he’s called himself Chinese even though he’s lived in Hong Kong most of his life. When Korean fans greeted him in Korean, he yelled, “I’m Chinese, OK?” at them. Jackson also promoted China when he retweeted a hashtag to promote the Chinese One Child Policy when it was around in 2019.
