The Golden Melody Awards, the Chinese-speaking world’s version of the Grammys went down this past Saturday night. One of the Hip Hop highlights of the night was when the Queens of Hip Hop in Taiwan came out to perform.

DJ RayRay
started things off by dropping a few beats from ‘No Scrubs’ by TLC, ‘Juicy’ by Notorious B.I.G, ‘Who’s That Girl’ by Eve, and ‘Work It’ by Missy Elliot, and then introduced all the female rappers in Taiwan. First up was 7LING aka NIKE CHEN. She came out and commanded the crowd with her dope rapping skills and dancing in an instant. Next up was the new generation with Majin, who was the female MC who made it the longest on MTV’s The Rappers season two. She tore the stage up with her rendition of ‘Alexis.’

The lights then went down and Miss Ko surprised people as she hasn’t been on the scene in a while in Taiwan. As she did her first song as a silhouette the people clapped and enjoyed the performance. When her next number dropped, all the lights went up and her band and dancers came out to jam. For her final song, she brought out 7LING and Majin as they called out everyone in the crowd to get their hands up. The GMA showcase was a glorious return for Miss Ko, one of Taiwan’s OG MCs, and one of the first female rappers in Asia.
