Fejo is considered a pioneer in Malayalam Rap as he’s been pushing it since 2009. The Kerala native calls his song with producer Parimal Shais ‘Top Tier Talk’ since he’s finally getting a chance to talk about the rise of Malayalam Rap on a platform as huge as Red Bull’s 64 Bars.

After watching the first season of India’s 64 Bars and some African rappers on the global version, Fejo wanted to show all of India how the scene in Kerala has grown. With most rappers getting only 8, 16, or 32 bars on a song, 64 Bars is the perfect place for lyrical MCs to stretch out and show the world what they’ve got. Touching on topics ranging from changes in Indian Rap to being a sober rapper, Fejo even references the work he has done with Raftaar.

Fejo lets loose on a Parimal Shais beat that samples some Kerala folk dance music. With that in mind, Fejo said to Red Bull, “I’ve rapped that my verses are like the Karakattam dance, because the dance and my Rap are both energetic. Like the Karakattam dance, I want to write many bars, and it should sound poetic like the dance is graceful. The dancers get that pumped-up energy and when I get on stage, I also have that divine energy. I wanted to reflect that kind of madness in my writing.”
