Before handing the song off to the contestants of Unpretty Rapstar: Hip Hop Princess, the show’s title track, ‘Do My Thang.’ passed through the hands and voices of its producers. The judges of the show, Korea’s Gaeko and Soyeon, as well as Japan’s RIEHATA and Takanori Iwata, all stepped to the mic for a fiery showcase of charisma and control.

True to its name, ‘Do My Thang’ is unapologetic from the first bar. Built around a country-inspired beat laced with twangy guitar loops and crisp 808s, the track gives each artist a distinct moment to shine. Soyeon opens with the precision of a veteran, Gaeko follows with her trademark bite and wit, while RIEHATA and Takanori Iwata bring a fresh international flair as their verses burst with attitude and rhythm.

As the title track of Unpretty Rapstar: Hip Hop Princess, ‘Do My Thang’ plays a symbolic role in the show’s concept — an international reimagining of the famed Rap competition, this time bridging Korean and Japanese cultures. The reality program gathers young female rappers and performers to craft music, choreography, and style from scratch, with mentorship from established artists featured. In many ways, ‘Do My Thang’ is a bold statement on the show’s international ambitions.
