DIVINE goes the introspective route for ‘Rain’
The Indian superstar knows that rain is needed to have sunshine
Indian superstar DIVINE is known for creating the Gully movement, his authentic lyricism, and his live shows that pull out all the stops. On August 28, DIVINE went the introspective route and dropped ‘Rain,’ a melancholic and vulnerable track that wrestles with sorrow over a reflective instrumental track by Stunna Beatz.
DIVINE interpolates ‘Give Me Some Sunshine’ from the Indian movie 3 Idiots. In the film, the character Joy realizes he won’t be able to graduate, so the weight of the expectations from his family turns into tragedy as he sings the song on a fence and eventually kills himself. It’s one of the most meaningful parts of the classic film that affected the millions who have watched it over the years.
DIVINE sings the line from ‘Give Me Some Sunshine,’ not to be vocally perfect, but to show that pain and grief can show up anywhere at any time. The song, in its sorrow, also offers hope to anyone listening.
