Bazeel drops the anthemic no-nonsense single ‘Mamat Panas’

“It’s palpable that my music is synonymous with the hustle and Singapore street culture”

There’s no better way to express yourself as an MC than actually spitting your truths. And there’s no better way to announce yourself as an artist than to release your music. Bazeel, the rapper hailing from Singapore is doing a stellar job at both.

On October 7, he dropped ‘Mamat Panas,’ his fourth single of the year. It’s three full minutes of no-nonsense and outrageously unapologetic lyricism, coupled with a beat drowned in 808s. He seamlessly code-switches between English and his native tongue, Malay on the track – “I’mma get the bag homie, I just do it for the duit.” Duit means money in English and is pronounced similarly to “do it” – talk about clever wordplay.

Bazeel expressed via an Instagram post that “making a difference” has always been his mission. He writes, “It’s palpable that my music is synonymous with the hustle and Singapore street culture. Every instrumental, every bar, are what dreams are made of. I aspire to build a community with like-minded identities, purposes, and lifestyle, hoping my music would inspire and motivate people from all walks of life.”

There’s a reason why he’s regarded as one of the torchbearers for the future of Singaporean Hip Hop by LiFTED, and he’s making it even more evidently clear in each and every one of his releases.
