Rappers Awich & CHICO CARLITO join bands Paledusk & ONE OK ROCK for the genre blending Red Bull IN-YO!
Nu Metal is taking back the airwaves like it’s Y2K
Between 1999 and 2001, Nu Metal bands like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park ruled the airwaves while they mixed hard rocking beats with Hip Hop lyrics. Music is cyclical, and now Nu Metal is making its way back into the mainstream, and Red Bull Japan has invited musicians from different genres to showcase their skills on Red Bull IN-YO!.
Red Bull IN-YO! is inspired by ying and yang with a Hip Hop foundation. Two Japanese MCs, Awich and CHICO CARLITO jump in with bands Paledusk and ONE OK ROCK and give an electrifying performance.
The video starts with ONE OK ROCK lead vocalist Takahiro Moriuchi screaming, as a lot of Nu Metal songs do. Takahiro shows off his soulful side when he sings, and soon the band is doing guitar solos and rocking out hard. On the Hip Hop side of things, CHICO CARLITO rhymes tough and Awich shows a bit of a sensitive side. To wrap things up, Paledusk joins in on the screaming and it all goes nuts at the end. Y2K vibes, including fashion and Nu Metal music, are back like it never left.
