11 Vietnamese MCs break it down for the UDG Freshman cypher
22 minutes of various styles of modern Hip Hop
In 2026, underground freshman cyphers is Asia have been going crazy. We’ve covered the Taiwanese and Chinese ones, and the Korean and Japanese have been pulling big numbers. Recently, the Vietnamese Underground Cypher dropped and it has 11 talented MCs all doing different styles of Hip Hop.
Unlike cyphers of old, these modern ones give MCs one song to show off their skills on the mic. Straight from the jump, Láu Cá drops a minute-and-a-half of fuzzy, Rage-influenced, rapping. From there, Yellowa gets in the mix with an R&B/Pop jam that distinctly separates him from Láu Cá. Woozy then grabs the mic and does his Emo thing. Sexonguap is another rapper with a style all his own in the first half.
Because there are 11 MCs, the cypher is broken down into two groups. When it's time for part B, Chó Phú Quốc grabs attention not only for his rapping, but also because he brings an umbrella, which shields him from all the other MCs. The breakout MC of the whole UDG cypher is Woo Kean. He’s got a distinct style of rapping, a shirt unbuttoned a few extra buttons, and even has class when the others are rapping. It’s not easy to stand out in a field of 11, but Woo Kean should be the star that comes from this class.
