Taiwan’s Hip Hop scene levels up: Quavo comes to Legacy Taipei

With Taiwan’s Rap scene exploding, So Wonderful’s Hip Hop Movement brings Quavo to the island

In 2017, Childish Gambino, otherwise known as Donald Glover, won the Golden Globe awards for his meta-TV comedy series, Atlanta. When he went on stage to accept the award, he said, “I’d like to thank the Migos — not for being on the show, but for making ‘Bad and Boujee.’ That’s the best song ever.

From that day, the Migos became the biggest Hip Hop group in modern times. ‘Bad and Boujee’ went on to go number one on Billboard’s Hot 100, and Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff became superstars as a group and with solo projects. While The Migos disbanded after Takeoff’s tragic death at a dice game in 2022, both other members have been putting out hits since. So Wonderful Asia’s Hip Hop Movement is bringing Quavo to Legacy Taipei on March 22.

Because Taiwan is not Thailand with Rolling Loud or Hong Kong with millions of people with expendable income, rappers don’t come often. So Wonderful’s Hip Hop Movement is trying to change that as they have brought bbno$ in 2023 as well as FERG for the So Wonderful Festival.

Quavo is a bit different because he’s in the superstar league. Besides the previously-mentioned ‘Bad and Boujee’, he also has another video with a billion views, ‘Congratulations’ with Post Malone. Recently, the Atlanta rapper has been on a promotional tour pushing his new single ‘Trappa Rappa’ on in a regular video and on From the Block.
