Slashie mashes up Bruno Mars, DJ Didilong & 蛋堡 Soft Lipa
This is a track that just might work in the club
From ‘Uptown Funk’ to ‘24K’ to ‘Finesse’ to Silk Sonic, Bruno Mars has been spitting out funky anthems in the 21st century like it’s the summer of 1981. His latest song, ‘I Just Might,’ is the lead single for his album The Romantic, which is out today. He keeps his sing-song magic going as he flips and interpolates grooves that make people dance into modern shakers.
Five years ago, Taiwan’s DJ Didilong and 蛋堡 Soft Lipa made a Bruno-like track, ‘水哥’ [translated as ‘Handsome Brother’]. In the video, Didilong breaks it down in a purple pimp suit with a half dozen of Taiwan’s best poppers and lockers backing him up, as well as a few Betel Nut Beauties. While ‘水哥’ feels like a hidden gem, it has racked up over two million YouTube views and was put out by KAO!INC, one of Taiwan’s biggest labels.
Just in time for the Bruno release, Slashie mashed up ‘水哥’ and ‘I Just Might,’ and the songs really fit perfectly. As a matter of fact, the videos also line up, so it’s a no-brainer that this just might work in the club, on the street, or at any Mandarin-speaking battle.
