Prabh Deep storyboards his way to new mixtape PSP
He’s joined by Thailand’s Big Calo & SYPS on the lively ‘Zum!!’
When an artist deletes or archives their whole social media, something pretty big is going down. A month ago, Prabh Deep whittled his Instagram down to nothing and started rolling out his brand new mixtape PSP. There are 10 storyboards that are black-and-white drawings of his thought process going into PSP. It’s a creative way to do things, and Prabh guarantees a fan that it’s not just about “Look at me. I use different synths”-type of thing.
Some songs on the nine-track mixtape are new, some are original versions, and some were made in improv sessions like track three, ‘Zum!!’ with Thailand’s Big Calo and SYPS. LiFTED caught up with Calo to hear about the making of the track, “We first met at Karma Studio in Pattaya, as Prabh had a session at the same time I was at a writing camp for DaBoyWay. Then we reconnected at Wonderfruit two years ago when he performed with SYPS. I knew SYPS already so I recommended that we all get in the studio together. Song came together super quick. Each of us did one take each improvising on the beat, then we just pieced together the parts we liked best.”
Like any Prabh project, PSP demands repeated listenings because he is a great conceptual artist in the truest sense.
