O SIDE MAFIA & BRGR rule the streets on ‘WE OUSSIDE’
Manila’s most consistent Hip Hop crew deploy a posse cut built on loyalty
O SIDE MAFIA’s partnership with producer BRGR has been one of the more consistent engines in Filipino Hip Hop over the past few years, delivering club staples like ‘GET LOW’ and ‘It’s Going Down’ to a growingly dedicated fanbase. ‘WE OUSSIDE’ arrives as their latest offering, but this one is much darker and more locked-in than some of their earlier work.
This is a straight posse cut with each member assigned a specific role. Costa Cashman handles the hook–a declaration of solidarity that doubles as a warning to their enemies. Gee Exclsv opens the verses with a shouty, high-tempo approach that owes something to 6ix9ine’s mad dog flow, though channeled with more discipline. Madman Stan closes things out with something slower and more deliberate. It’s a measured verse that recalls the precision of early-era Kendrick Lamar.
BRGR’s production connects the two opposite ends of the lyrical spectrum convincingly. The beat is classic 2010’s Trap-type ish. Thunderous 808s, crisp snares, a midrange that opens space for both rappers’ flows to breathe.
The music video, directed and edited by NAKI and y.stacey, follows O SIDE MAFIA through Manila’s streets, existing loudly in the city that built them.
