Getting big-name rappers to Asia is no easy feat. A lot of MCs don’t love flying outside of the US. If they don’t mind, they need five or 10 flight tickets for their entourage, which makes the price prohibitively expensive.

To celebrate its decade in the festival game, Rapbeat 2024 is bringing over legendary MC Nas for their festival held at Songdo Moonlight Festival Park in Incheon on September 21 and 22. Nas hasn’t been in Korea for over a decade, and this year, he’s celebrating the 30th anniversary of his critically acclaimed debut album, Illmatic.

Contrary to it’s name, Rapbeat is turning into a multi-genre festival highlighting not only Hip Hop, but also Indie, Rock, and R&B. There will also be art installations, dance battles, showcases for streetwear, as well as interactive workshops.

Getting Nas to top the bill is incredible. Known as one of the most skilled lyricists in the game, Nas has a permanent place in nearly everyone’s top MC list. Instead of going out quietly, Nas has put out three albums in the last three years. For his latest, King’s Disease, Nas won a Grammy. Nas isn’t slowing down anytime soon as he just released a song with DJ Premier and has hinted at a full album with one of the greatest producers of all time.
