Raw meets smooth when Miyachi & Yvng Patra collab for ‘WAY UP’
The gas station is the spot of the moment
In Hip Hop videos, the gas station is a good place to be. It gives those grimy, street vibes but it’s also lit brightly for the cameras. Recently, Larry June was stunting in his video for ‘Gas Station Run’ and EJ Jones may have met the apple of his eye in ‘Gas Station Love.’
In Tokyo, Yvng Patra and Miyachi meet up at the gas station for their collab, ‘WAY UP.’ Yvng Patra has a real rawness about him that can be found in his lyrics. Miyachi, the patron saint of FamilyMarts, is in a new location, but he’s got the same smooth swagger that he brings to everything he does.
‘WAY UP’ starts with Patra flexing that he’s from the snowy side of town. Miyachi goes the slick route by referencing his dope live performance by saying anyone in a big room gets put in a boiler. Towards the end, both MCs go line for line before the whole crew jumps into to make sure everyone gets ‘WAY UP.’
