Show Me the Money 12 [SMTM12], Korea’s biggest Hip Hop reality show, has been back for two episodes and both of them have been newsworthy. Contestants from 32 countries have shown MCs rapping in various languages while the judges have to whittle down the numbers.

In a surprise move, Thai superstar MILLI popped up on week one with Jay Park. At first, she sang a bit, then dropped into a freestyle about being on the show. Of course, MILLI made it to the second round.

In the second episode, JB, introduced as a Hong Kong Rap pioneer, was face to face with Zico. After JB rapped in Cantonese, he said his goal in the competition was to let more people see the Hong Kong Hip Hop scene and understand that Canto Rap is dope. JB also went to the second round.

According to weekly reports, SMTM12 on Mnet has been a ratings monster. The show is number one in the TV Buzz sector of the ratings in Korea, and has also been drawing a lot of attention in Thailand and Singapore. While it’s highly unlikely that MILLI or JB will go too deep in the competitions since the show is looking for new talent, it’s great that they are popping up and showing people there is more than Korean Hip Hop on SMTM12.
