After creating quite a buzz on Boiler Room Osaka, MFS landed on the LiFTED 50 list at 49. Two months ago, she released a live rendition of ‘Don’t’ and it got enough love that an actual video needed to be made. Last week, she released the video for ‘Don’t’ and it’s turned up to 11.
The Baile Funk beat produced by Stones Taro on ‘Don’t’ is so infectious because it takes bits and pieces of Miami Bass, Hip Hop, and Drum & Bass and tosses them in a blender for an uptempo banger. As soon as that first fog horn hits, it’s easy to tell this is going to be a jam. MFS has a flow that is reminiscent of an early M.I.A. in its tone and creativity and a bit of the wildness of Doechii.
In the video. MFS issues the stern warning, “Don’t touch my body/I want to be caught in my heart” in a hand bra, and it only gets better from there. Soon, MFS and crew are dancing and sweating all around the city while being shot from amazing camera angles.
‘Don’t’ warns people not to touch MFS, but it’s also a hint of what’s to come in 2025. Hip Hop is moving between the slowness of Trap and Drill into the higher energy of Jersey Club and Baile Funk world and LiFTED is here for it.
