South Stockton to the Philippines: MBNel builds bridges with O SIDE MAFIA on ‘Ashtray’

It’s a good time to be a Filipino Rap fan

Multilingual music is having it’s moment in the Sun. Collabs are happening left and right between artists from countries close by and all the way around the globe. Filipino Rap is everywhere and those related by blood and nationality are getting together and doing cool things.

Recently, MBNel has been making a lot of trips to his homeland. He shot two videos there for ‘Ghost 2’ and ‘Just Like You’ earlier in the year. He came back to build a bridge from South Stockton, California to the Philippines with the O SIDE MAFIA on ‘Ashtray.’

Effortlessly flipping between English and Tagalog on alternating verses, ‘Ashtray’ sounds like a street party between long-lost family members. The video continues that vibe with a cracking party, some girls dancing, and the KTV lyrics on the screen for good measure. ‘Ashtray’ makes it feel good to be a Filipino Rap fan.
