June to August in Japan’s big cities can be unbearable with temperatures exceeding 30°C with high humidity. Now, Japanese menswear retailer Yofuku no Aoyama has launched a product that will help cool people down in the heat–the Kuchofuku Air-Conditioned Work Shirt.

With two small fans built in to help eliminate sweat and circulate air, the button-up offers an internal cooling system for office workers. For many years, vests with fans have been available for construction workers, traffic helpers who needed to be outside for long periods of time, and farmers, but this is the first time that the technology has been made for office workers.

Elastic cords and special cuffs keep the air inside the shirt, while the two fans are at the sides so that people can sit comfortably. The battery pack that comes with the Kuchofuku Air-Conditioned Work Shirt can blow at low power for 10 hours and high speeds for three hours. Because it looks like regular office wear, the Kuchofuku Air-Conditioned Work Shirt might not win any special design awards but the main idea is the usefulness of the shirt in the sweltering summer in Japan.
