Don’t sleep on this superstar collab

Last week, Karan Aujla and Ryan Tedder, lead singer of One Republic, went on Zane Lowe’s New Music Daily Radio Show and talked to the enigmatic host about their collab, ‘Tell Me.’ Ryan even went on to say what many people in the business are thinking right now, “Anyone who’s not paying attention to India or Southeast Asia right now, on a cultural tip, is asleep at the wheel.”

In the six days since the release, “Tell Me” has done huge numbers on YouTube with 26 million views, and that’s because it was designed to break the internet. Karan is one of India’s biggest stars because he blends Hip Hop and R&B with Punjabi Folk music. His streams are through the roof and has sold out world tours. One Republic has had countless platinum hits and Grammy nominations. Add Disha Patani, an immensely popular Hindi actress, into the video and the internet automatically breaks.

BUT is it good?

‘Tell Me’ is more fluff than Indian Hip Hop. While there is some rapping, it’s overshadowed by One Republic’s Pop sensibilities. The song and video have been generated for the Pop charts and it’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to be doing.
