Head in the Clouds announces LA festival on August 8

Idol heavy at the top with some great Hip Hop in there

This weekend, 88rising’s Head in the Clouds festival makes its debut in Tokyo, Japan. The two-day festival will see artists like BE:FIRST, Rich Brian, Chanmina, Jay Park x LNGSHOT, MILLI, and others take the stage and show the Japanese fans what the festival is all about.

Head in the Clouds has curated festivals in New York, Jakarta, Manila, and China, but each year, the home base is the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, California. 88rising just announced the festival would be on August 8 and include KATSEYE as the headliners. This six-member group is America’s answer to K-pop groups. Technically called a global Pop group since they do not sing in English, KATSEYE has followed the K-pop system for training, choreography, and performance. Another idol group with a Hip Hop twist is XG, Japan’s seven-member group that has some great rappers in there.

Other artists representing Asian Hip Hop on the bill are Rich Brian, Warren Hue, and Dabin.kr. LNGSHOT is Jay Park’s new K-pop project, so he might pop out. And another great addition to the lineup is Hong Kong’s Gia Fu, a DJ/selector who plays mostly Afro/Latin music and Salsa. Like this weekend’s Head in the Clouds in Tokyo, LA’s version will champion the best of Asian music in 2026.
