Hanumankind has been a dope rapper since he started flexing on the mic. Once he got together with director Bijoy Shetty and producer Kalmi last year, they hit it out of the park with ‘Big Dawgs,’ one of the best music videos of the past decade. The only problem with making an Earth-shattering video is that it’s not easy to top. Instead of avoiding the challenge, the team got back together to ‘Run It Up’ and the results are out of this world.

‘Big Dawgs’ was captivating because Hanumankind showed the entertainment of India, a well of death where motorcycles rode around nearly vertical walls for the enjoyment of the people. In ‘Run It Up,’ Hanumankind’s hometown of Kerala is represented in every scene with traditional dance or martial arts.

The video is a tribute to the ritual of the tribal god, Kandanar Kelan Theyyam. Every year, people come from nearby villages to seek blessings from their god. Hanumankind sees himself as Kandanar Kelan, the warrior reborn from the ashes every year. The dramatic video is filled with chaos, fire, and eventually celebration as the Chenda drummers close out the video with an explosion of musicality.

Whatever Hanumankind and his team are plugged into, keep doing it. The music world is a better place for it.
