True Skool HK brings UK Jungle legend General Levy to Hong Kong
The ‘Incredible’ artist will invade Pier 1929 on April 11
Led by Miyuki and friends, True Skool HK has been promoting Reggae and Dancehall events in Hong Kong since 2009. Over the years they’ve brought heavy hitters from all over the world, like Anthony B from Jamaica, Million Stylez from Sweden, and Steppa Style from Russia. Now they’ve announced Jungle pioneer GENERAL LEVY from the UK for one night only on April 11. He’s also got gigs in Bangkok [Blaq Lyte Rover] on April 4, Phnom Penh [B-Box] on April 5, and Singapore [RASA] on April 12.
General Levy is a true OG legend of the UK urban music scene, and still one of the most in-demand MCs in the country. His single ‘Incredible’ with M-Beat reached number 8 on the UK singles chart in 1994 and is one of the biggest Jungle anthems of all time. His innovative breath squeak style caught the UK Dance culture by storm with the iconic line, “Wicked, wicked - junglist massive!”
As a youth, General Levy started writing lyrics at age 14 and eventually got signed by Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood’s Justice Records. His second album, Wickeder General, was voted the best Reggae album of 1992, with the single ‘Heat’ voted best single. To this day he is considered one of the best UK MCs to chat over Jungle and Dancehall beats.
The show on April 11 is presented by True Skool and Heavy Hong Kong, and it will be at the scenic Pier 1929 venue from 10 PM til late.
Check True Skool HK or Heavy Hong Kong’s IG for promotional tickets. This one’s going to be massive!
