Four Asian cities named in the top 10 for nightlife destinations
Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok & Bali are party places
Sixty percent of people who travel decide where to go based on a country’s nightlife options. Entertainment website JB decided to do a study across major cities around the globe using the metrics of number of bars per 100 kilometers, drink cost, closing times, and safety. While Barcelona, Spain and Paris, France came in at number one and two, close behind was Tokyo, Japan at three.
Tokyo is a DJ’s dream with people playing music not only in clubs, but also grocery stores, elevators, and on the street. There are small bars with people playing vinyl everywhere you look, and Tokyo’s record stores are the thing of legend. But what got Tokyo the high spot was its safety. Walking around Tokyo after dark is not any more dangerous than walking around during the day. Safety matters a lot, especially to solo travelers or females, because buying a drink for cheap doesn’t really matter if it’s dangerous to get back to the hotel.
The other seven countries on the top 10 list were Prague, Czech Republic Tbilisi, Georgia, Seoul, South Korea, Yerevan, Armenia, Bangkok, Thailand, Bali, Indonesia, and Budapest, Hungary. For Asian countries, Seoul was up there because of its K-Pop clubs, themed venues in Gangnam, and Korean BBQ culture that goes all night long.
Bangkok at eighth place is a city that has something for everyone including uncountable numbers of street level bars, great rooftop bar culture, and a few distinct areas for clubbing like Thonglor. Bali at ninth place is an amazing destination for tourists and has clubs hiring big DJs with infinity pools overlooking the oceans that get cooking from noon until late night.
