Clockenflap releases first round music lineup
Hong Kong’s marquee festival is from November 29 to December 1
Some were worried Hong Kong’s Clockenflap would turn into a corporate machine when it was sold to Live Nation last year. With the release of the first round of the musical lineup, that consternation is unfounded as the artists are as diverse as ever.
Two of the three headliners have been revealed - Jack White and AIR - and there is much to like on the way down the bill. A-Trak always plays amazing sets. Jamie XX is one of the most talented people in the music industry. PartyBoi169 has raised his profile a lot over the past year.
As for Hip Hop, Japan’s Creepy Nuts will bring their catchy tunes and wild live show to Hong Kong’s Harborfront for the first time. The duo has had an incredible 2024 with their song ‘Bling-Bang-Bang-Born’ topping the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for the past 19 weeks. It’s also this season’s theme song to the popular anime Mashle: Magic And Muscles.
If the last two Clockenflaps are any indication, there should be a big-name Old School Hip Hop artist announced by the time the festival happens at the end of November. At the beginning of last year, Wu-Tang Clan headlined, and later on in the year, it was De La Soul with surprise guest Talib Kweli.
