Breakdancing has gone through many changes over the past 50 years, but this past weekend in New York City, the Red Bull BC One World Championships paid tribute to the roots of Hip Hop by taking the competition back to its birthplace. After 60 qualifiers in 30 countries in 2022, BGirl India from the Netherlands and BBoy Victor are the BC One World Champions.

Red Bull's BC One World Finals

At the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, two brackets of the top-16 Bgirls and Bboys from around the world battled until only one was left on each side. 16-year-old Bgirl India from the Netherlands became the youngest dancer to ever win Red Bull’s BC One Championship. In her final battle, she went one-on-one with the 2021 champion Logistix. She is the first-ever Dutch champion and looks like she is peaking at the right time leading up to the 2024 Olympics. India said to Red Bull, “I had to battle the defending champion, that was not nothing. I had to do my best, but I was so happy to battle against her.”

For Bboy Victor from America, this was the 26-year-old’s second BC One Championship after winning in 2015 in Rome. He dominated his bracket and his opponent in the final, Bboy Lee. “It feels like a dream, to be honest. I can’t believe I won again. I wanted to prove to myself that I can do it again,” Victor said to Red Bull after the battle.
