Balming Tiger enter their dreamy art house era with ‘집으로‘
Korea’s anti-K-pop collective leans further into the surreal
K-pop didn’t take over the world by accident. it’s precision-built Pop, crafted by teams of elite writers, producers, and choreographers. Balming Tiger couldn’t be further from that formula. Raw, DIY, and defiantly offbeat, the Korean collective has carved out a lane that rejects polish in favor of personality.
Now they’re back, stepping into a full-on art house phase with ‘집으로,’ loosely translated as “homeward”. Driven by hypnotic chants and striking, stylized visuals, the track doubles down on their mission to make music that sticks, not something disposable.
The black-and-white video plays like a fever dream. At its core? A simple, almost absurd challenge—flipping a bottle. But in true Balming Tiger fashion, it spirals into something much stranger. Men attempt to land the perfect flip as they race toward a finish line where a bride waits, while the screen fills with signature oddities: squid moustaches, plate balancing, and disjointed dream sequences.
With their upcoming album Gongbu set to drop May 19, ‘집으로’ feels like a tone-setter with equal parts chaotic and intentional, hinting at a project that’s anything but predictable.
