You can’t ban greatness

With the Kendrick Bowl over, the sports world is now looking toward the NBA's All-Star weekend. It’s a big weekend for Nike as they celebrate 40 years of the Jordan brand with a new video ‘Unbannable.’

Forty years ago, Nike introduced the Jordan 1, Michael Jordan’s signature shoe that was automatically banned in the NBA because it was black. Nike had to pay US$5000 per game, which ended up being one of the cheapest methods of advertising ever. Soon, Nike was selling millions of Jordans and the rest is history.

In Nike’s video, there are the obligatory superstars from the NBA world like Luka and Jason Tatum, as well as some people from the music world like Travis Scott and Jackson Wang. For a brief second, though, Awich is in the commercial because she’s a Jordan ambassador in Japan. Over the last month, Awich has been doing shows and she even got some amazing teeth gems with the Jumpman logo on it.
