When Japanese people do something, no one ever goes halfway. If someone wants to be a punk, they dedicate their life to living, acting, breathing, and listening to music like a punk. If they want to go anime, they will become a living and breathing anime character. The same can be said about their music festivals, especially the just-announced Afrojam, headlined by Rema, Shenseea, and Jason Derulo. Also, The Wailers have been added to the bill, as well as other artists to be announced.

There are three festivals in three cities, each lasting three days. First up is July 18 to 20 in Okinawa. The second Afrojam is in Osaka from July 22 to July 24. The final date is July 25 to July 27 in Tokyo.

With these Afrojams, Afrobeats music is firmly planting its flag in Japan. Rema is one of the genre's biggest stars with his unstoppable hit ‘Calm Down’ from 2022. Shenseea is the queen of Dancehall at the moment, and Jason Derulo adds some Pop stylings. When Japanese festivals do something, they never go halfway.
