October was not a good month for Malaysian rapper Namewee. On October 22, Namewee was arrested in a hotel room in Kuala Lumpur for drug use and possession. Police searched the hotel and found nine ecstasy tablets. They tested Namewee for drugs and amphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC were found in his urine.

Sadly, there is more to the story. Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh was found dead in a bath tub on October 22. The 31-year-old had flown to Malaysia to discuss collaborating with Namewee. The preliminary cause of death is a heart attack, but since Iris was healthy and athletic, police are investigating the death closely.

For his part, Namewee took to social media to deny the drug use and possession charge, criticize the time it took an ambulance to come to the hotel, and said he would be cleared once the police report came out. "I saw another baseless news report, and I’m feeling really 'dulan' [ ‘frustrated' in English]. I’ve also received a lot of concern from people, so I’ll reply to everyone here once and for all. I haven’t used drugs, nor have I been carrying any. At most, I’ve been drinking more lately. Believe it or not, the truth will come out when the police report is released."

Check out Namewee’s statement below.
