FRαNKIE阿法’s ‘白眼’ is a LiFTED reunion of sorts
The Taiwanese rapper, a dancer & the director all have LiFTED credentials
Upon first watch of FRαNKIE阿法’s ‘白眼,’ it’s easy to notice the elite rapping, the excellent choreography, and the skilled direction of the video. However, upon closer inspection, one notices a common thread–the rapper, dancer, and director have all collabed with LiFTED before.
In 2021, LiFTED launched with Brad and FRαNKIE阿法 both giving outstanding performances. One of the dancers LiFTED worked with that night was Angela Yang, an amazing instructor in Twerk, Dancehall, and heels, who is featured in ‘白眼.’ And the director, Myles Ainsley, is a great friend of LiFTED and covered Clockenflap when we had a chance to interview and hang out with the legendary Wu-Tang Clan. It makes LiFTED proud to see the top talent in Taiwan getting together to work on new projects.
In a behind-the-scenes video, FRαNKIE阿法 explained that ‘白眼’ is divided into three parts: comfortable green screen, intense green screen, and hysterical limbo stage. ‘白眼’ translates to the rolling of the eyes, and the video starts off with some rapping and dancing. Soon, the heat is turned up as FRαNKIE阿法 and his paramour are in heated discussions about who is to blame for the circle of hell their relationship has become. Myles turns the glitchy uncomfortableness up to 9 as they are stuck saying back and forth, “If I didn’t date you, I wouldn’t be toxic.” If you’ve been in this situation, it hits deep into the soul.
Then, there is a sudden beat switch and FRαNKIE阿法 is now upside down shibari-style painted with Chinese characters. He’s adopted a new manner of Rap for the end, and while it’s a shift, it makes sense stylistically for ‘白眼.’
