Ten years is a long time to wait for a reunion track, but Verbal Jint and Heize made every second feel worth it on ‘Replay.’ Much like their respective discographies, the track drifts in like an unexpectedly soft and impossible-to-shake late-night memory.

The production is a looping minimalist Pop beat that serves as a familiar soundtrack for lonely nights. Verbal Jint slips in with the effortless flow that made him a pillar of Korean Hip Hop. He doesn’t need to raise his voice as each line feels lived-in, a quiet charisma that lingers long after the verse fades.

Then Heize steps in. Her vocals float above the beat, fragile and unwavering, pulling the track into something dreamlike. The push and pull between their deliveries – his grounded, hers ethereal – turns ‘Replay’ into a stellar breakup song.

For an artist who has been prolific since his debut in 2008, this comeback is a return to what he’s best known for. A rapper who doesn’t chase a trend by marching to the drum of his own beat and knowing how to make a moment last.
