Thaitanium celebrate 24 years in the game with ‘24 Summers’

Blahzay Blahzay adds that Old School Hip Hop feel

There’s no doubt that the music industry is a chew-em-up and spit-em-out business. Ask Puff Daddy. To have survived and thrived for 24 years in the Rap game is practically unheard of, but Thaitanium has taken Hip Hop in Thailand and made it the biggest genre in the country.

The crew of Way, Day, Khan, Big Calo, and DJayBuddah have been putting in the work and to celebrate their time in the biz, they released ‘24 Summers’ and some merch to go along with their anniversary party on March 29 at Sway in Bangkok. The track has an Old School gritty and grimy New York City feel with added vocals by OGs Blahzay Blahzay.

The reason why Thaitanium is dope is because they can rap. Plain and simple. Each MC spits fire four-bar raps over a broody beat with eerie keys in the first half of the song. There’s no chorus on ‘24 Summers.’ Instead, all of the MCs catch wreck while Blahzay Blahzay gives them an intro and does a bit more talking in the middle of the track.

In the second verse, Day, Khan, and Calo float between English and Thai and go for eight bars each. Then there’s a bit more Blahzay in there and DaBoyWay goes bananas. He doesn’t take four or eight or 16 bars. He keeps going for 32 bars and even has a bit of ‘The Choice is Yours’ by Black Sheep sprinkled on the beat as he ends it like Lil Wayne does when he blacks out as the final MC on tracks. Here’s to 24 more summers with Thaitanium.
