The Lunar New Year is a bit boring for many Hip Hop lovers. Hanging out with the family is fun for a day or two, but then, things just slog on. Soon, all of Netflix is watched, and people want to get out and do something but most bars or nightclubs are closed for the 10-day holiday.

For a lot of the Lunar New Year, Taipei is a ghost town because people travel all over the country to see their families. This year, there is something that all Hip Hop lovers should be excited to see - Sneakers Unboxed: Studio to Street - an exhibition by the London Design Museum at Halls 2 and 3 of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.

This exhibition starts with the Big 9, the shoes that were before the first Chuck Taylor All-Stars, which were the first basketball shoes. There are some very rare shoes from designers like Yohji Yamamoto and Virgil Abloh on exhibit as well. Another room shows how sneakers went from sports shoes to fashion accessories starting in the 1970s in New York City, going through Run DMC and Micheal Jordan, and ending up in modern times. Some local sneaker collectors will be at Sneakers Unboxed to show off their collections. Anyone who buys a ticket is entered into a drawing for a pair of Jordan 1 Retro High OGs.

Those looking to get out of the house or away from their families for a few hours will surely have a blast and learn some things about sneaker culture at Sneakers Unboxed: Studio to Street.
