Saweetie & P-Lo are loyal to the soil on ‘DO IT FOR THE BAY’

The 2 MCs with Filipino roots get Hyphy for the NFL’s 49ers

There are only four teams left in the 2023-4 season of the NFL - the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Detroit Lions, and the San Francisco 49ers. While Detroit has Eminem losing himself from the sidelines and Kansas City has Taylor Swift swag surfin’ in the VIP boxes, only one team has a brand new song. That’s the San Francisco 49ers new anthem, ‘DO IT FOR THE BAY,’ performed by P-Lo and Saweetie.

Both P-Lo and Saweetie are from Northern California and they share Filipino roots. P-Lo, who grew up in a large Filipino family, has produced tracks for Wiz Khalifa, Yo Gotti, and Iggy Azalea, and put out his debut album in 2017. Saweetie, who has a Filipino-Chinese mother and black father, is on her way to superstardom with hits like ‘My Type’, ‘Best Friend,’ and ‘My Type.’

Interspersed with clips of the San Francisco 49ers team making amazing plays and fans tweakin’ are P-Lo, with a massive SF chain, and Saweetie, looking hella good as usual. They drop gassed up raps over a Hyphy beat that is perfectly Bay.

While there have been other teams that have made NFL songs [anyone remember the ‘Super Bowl Shuffle’ by the Chicago Bears], but none have ever been so timely and streetwise as ‘DO IT FOR THE BAY.’

Smell me?
